SM2 Christopher E. Watts

"We fuel the People that drive the Mission."
Mission Vending exists to honor the life and sacrifice of SM2 Christopher E. Watts, a Sailor, a brother, and a true Navy man whose legacy continues through service.

Remembering Chris
A Brother, a Sailor, a Legacy
I met Christopher E. Watts when he was still an E-2, Seaman Apprentice, while we were attending Signalman "A" School. I can still remember it like it was yesterday, being woken up by Seaman Apprentice Watts sitting on the top rack of our shared bunk beds, chowing down on a bag of Cheetos. Chris loved Cheetos.
Half-asleep, I remember telling him, "Stop smacking, RECRUIT!" Without missing a beat, he responded, "WHATEVER!", and continued finishing those darn Cheetos.
That moment marked the beginning of a true brotherhood. We spent countless hours studying career publications and Navy journals, talking about advancement, deployment, and the future. Chris was a dedicated Sailor, a true Navy lifer in every sense of the word.
After graduating from Signalman "A" School, we were both surprised and proud to receive orders to the USS Wasp (LHD-1). During our tour aboard Wasp, Chris and I served together on the Signal Bridge alongside an outstanding group of Sailors.
We sailed on many adventures together, including multiple trips to Morehead City, two Mediterranean deployments, and many other operations at sea. Chris worked extremely hard to advance, and I was honored to be there when he made E-3 (Seaman) and later Petty Officer Third Class (SM3).
Sadly, Chris and I were separated when I was honorably discharged in 1999. I still remember the day I received the news that my friend and brother, SM2 Christopher E. Watts, had been killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom. I cried like a baby. Some losses never leave you.
Chris was more than a shipmate.
He was a true friend, a true Sailor, and a true Navy man.

Our Mission
In honor of SM2 Christopher E. Watts, Mission Vending was created as a living tribute to his life, service, and sacrifice.
Every partnership we form, every machine we place, and every dollar we give back is done with the men and women in uniform in mind, including those currently serving, those who have served, and the families who stand beside them.
Chris lived a life of purpose.
Mission Vending exists to carry that purpose forward.
